چکیده

In this paper, we analyse two important and relatively complex performance measures, tail probability and switching frequency, for two class queueing system with two different (relative and earliest due date based) dynamic priority schemes across classes. A simulator is build to perform such analysis and various observations are made. Based on computational evidence, it is conjectured that two stage exponential queueing network with two classes of customers is decomposable as far as mean waiting times are concerned when relative priority is used across classes to schedule the customers. Based on further experiments, it is conjectured that departure processes with relative dynamic priority are Poisson in two class exponential queue. Design of Modified RED Implemented in a Class Based CIOQ Switch

A Combined Input and Output Queued (CIOQ) switch with a certain speedup of S (1<S<N) can achieve 100% throughput and offer QoS guarantees. In this paper, we present the deployment of Random Early Detection (RED) on a CIOQ switch that has priority queues with shared buffer (class based switch). We first give an estimated model to concrete that one RED controller per output port is sufficient for...

MODELLING AND ANALYSIS OF A DISCRETE-TIME PRIORITY QUEUING COMPUTER NETWORK WITH PRIORITY JUMPS USING PROBABILITY GENERATING FUNCTIONS

Priority queues have a great importance in the study of computer communication networks in which different types of traffic require different quality of service standards. The discrete-time non-preemptive priority queuing model with priority jumps is proposed in this paper. On the basis of probability generating functions mean system contents and mean queuing delay characteristics are obtained....

Efficient Dynamic Multilevel Priority Task Scheduling For Wireless Sensor Networks

ABSTRACT: Most of the existing packet-scheduling mechanism of WSN use First Come First Served(FCFS),nonpreemptive priority and preemptive prior it scheduling algorithms. These algorithms incur a high processing overhead and long end-to-end data transmission delay due to improper allocation of data packets to queues in multilevel queue scheduling algorithms. Moreover, these algorithms are not dy...

A heuristic method for consumable resource allocation in multi-class dynamic PERT networks

This investigation presents a heuristic method for consumable resource allocation problem in multi-class dynamic Project Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) networks, where new projects from different classes (types) arrive to system according to independent Poisson processes with different arrival rates. Each activity of any project is operated at a devoted service station located in a n...

Skiplist-Based Concurrent Priority Queues

This paper addresses the problem of designing scalable concurrent priority queues for large scale multiprocessors – machines with up to several hundred processors. Priority queues are fundamental in the design of modern multiprocessor algorithms, with many classical applications ranging from numerical algorithms through discrete event simulation and expert systems. While highly scalable approac...
